Google was founded in 1998, since then it has grown to become one of the largest search engines in the world. It success has been largely accredited to its proprietary alogrthyms that produce highly relevant search results.
Googlebot is the main spider used to created the index, and it revists websites on a monthly basis. The spider also saves a basic version of the page into a cache, allowing the webpage to be viewed even if the server is down.
The main relevance rating for the engine is it's PageRank technology, this allocated each page a rating based on the number of websites and the quality of links leading to it.
